Dr. Seuss' Birthday

The Lorax movie comes out next week!

I love to read.

BUT, I didn't always love to read. (Which is kinda funny for someone who teaches English.)

But, it's true. It was only after marrying Dave that I became a "book reader." (Sorry mom and dad, I know you both read a lot.)

And that had a lot to do with the fact that Dave was a reader--and therefore, gave me books for EVERY anniversary, birthday, and Christmas.

The first few years of our marriage it was kinda funny.

"Oh, a book, thanks." [Zzzzzz.]

"Oh, another book. Thanks." [I  can see I better get a bookshelf soon.]

And so on, and so on, and so on.

Until one year he gave me a book that for some reason just SPOKE to me.

You know the kind of book I'm talkin' 'bout?

--A book you want to read and never put down.
--A book that teaches, helps, inspires, and changes you.
--A book you WANT to write in.
--A book you want to share with everyone you meet. (But not your copy of it ... what if they never return it?)

That kind of book.

Anyway, my point!

March 2nd is Dr. Seuss' birthday (that guy loved reading).

And in honor of his birthday, I've been invited to speak at an elementary school assembly and share my love of books (and Survivor).

How fun is that? (Fun.)

I'm looking forward to it--because I read a TON of books in preparation for Survivor. (I was pretty much like Gidget, I taught myself to surf reading a book.)

Here are some of the books I read to prepare for Survivor.

Many of them shared with me by my gym partner, Neola--whom I affectionately call NeYoda.

NeYoda was my Jedi Master as I prepped for the game.

Did  mention that she's in her 70s and can lift more weight than me?

(More on NeYoda soon.)

PS:

1. Did you see this week's Survivor?
What did you think? The women are down 2 players now. I'm praying things turn around for them this week. It's ROUGH to go to Tribal Council ONCE, let alone TWICE in a row!

2. I'll be posting a new recipe tomorrow (Recipe of the Week).
This one's in honor of Cochran and includes Snickers.

3. Oh! Today's the last day to enter the GIVEAWAY!
At 11:59pm tonight (Mountain Time), the Giveaway officially ends.  See the tab "Giveaways" for details. (Retro Air Popper this time.)

4. And in case you are wondering which book I loved so much?
I'm reluctant to share the title--because it seems like everyone's tastes vary so greatly. But if I followed that line of thinking, I would never share a recipe, so that makes no sense.

The book was A Return to Love, by Marianne Williamson.

(PS: It's somewhat religious, though not affiliated with my own religion. I'm a firm believer in "learn from everyone and everywhere." And for some reason, this book just really taught me a lot. I love it.)

5. Have a great weekend.
