If It Weren't For The 'PIRIN Tablets ...

There's a great scene in the movie The Bird Cage, where Robin Williams' character is concerned about his partner's state of mind (played by Nathan Lane).

As he (Williams) laundry-lists his concerns, Lane's character heads over to their "Humble Man-Servant" (Hank Azaria) and says, "Give me a PIRIN" tablet and I'll be fine."

To which Williams' character says, "You're giving him drugs?"

To which Azaria replies, "No. Shhhh! It's Aspirin with the 'A' and the 'S' scratched off."

Folks. I think Dave and I have been living that scene over and over again these past two weeks--as life has dealt us some pretty overwhelming challenges.

And honestly, if it weren't for the PIRIN tablets (and an insanely funny/supportive family), I think I'd have a headache the size of Texas.

So, what are the challenges? Well, I think they're normal everyday challenges ... it's just when you experience them all in a row, literally in 12 hour vignettes, they're no longer normal.

You know what I'm talking about?

--car problems (both cars)
--car accidents
--teenager drama (I mentioned we have 4 teens, right?)
--friends with life-threatening illnesses (Leukemia & ALS)
--personal health problems
--etc., etc., etc.

It's nothing a year won't fix. Ha!

It's just the actual muscling through that year that makes it FUN challenging.

SO, I apologize for my absence from the blog.  I really do miss writing daily. But for some reason, when I sit down to write, I feel a little on the overwhelmed side.

Anyway, enough about me.

How are YOU?

It's nearly Halloween here in the States (woo hoo!). How are you celebrating?

PS: Yes, I'm watching Survivor. Are you? I'll try to share my thoughts here from time-to-time. For now, I'm just glad Malcom, Lisa, Penner, Skupin, and Denise are still in it.

PPS: Just so you don't think it's all House of Blues over here; here are some photos taken these past two weeks.

See, life is good. Even when it's hard.

Papaya, Bam, and I went to a craft night at church.

Our neighbors (let's call them the Jones'--tee hee) decorated for Halloween. Isn't this incredible?

It's really Halloween awesomeness. (Truly.) (Nice thumb in the frame, Dawn.)

We drive by their house weekly. I'm sure they love it. Ha ha ha.

Bam, who loves makeup, bought a Lady Gaga "make-up kit."

Zu's birthmom sent her a package ... with 2.9 million things in it. (Thank you, Amy!)

Jay learned that driving is a responsibility and a privilege. (If you get my drift.)

Jr. got bit by Dino Duck the goose. Note to self: Bring more bread next time.

Our city center finally put the pumpkin head on Metal Man

Papaya and Bam got to help their favorite babysitting kids on family photo day.

The kids played indoor dodgeball.

Lu practiced her flips ...

and decided that every child deserves a foam pit.

More foam pit fun.

We painted (and tried to imitate Picasso/cubism).

A Survivor fan sent me a package yesterday  ...

with this incredible Dr. Who Cookie Jar in it! (Thanks, Winston!)

And, when I asked my neighbor if I could borrow AN Onion, her kids ran over with this!
