A little over 18 years ago, Dave and I "turned in" papers to apply for the adoption program with our church. You see, we weren't able to have kids, and we just wanted SO badly to have the chance to be parents--to share a family and grow together over the years.
During that first year of waiting, I can remember asking The Universe to "please just let me be a mom to one sweet baby."
Just one.
I promised I'd never ask for another favor. Just. This. One:
Please help me be a mom to one sweet baby.
I'm thinking now that God has a pretty good sense of humor because Dave and I have not one, not two, not three ... but six children.
It's incredible when I think about it.
Sincerely, I look at each one of our kids and think, "When did all of this happen? How did all of these babies get here?" (PS: They aren't babies, but you get my point.)
And yet, I know the answer.
I know there are FIVE incredible women who loved LOVE and LIFE so much that they were willing to share it.
And that is pretty incredible.
No matter how we get to Planet E, it's seriously a miracle.
Our lives are a miracle.
It takes SO MUCH LUCK/WORK simply to make it here, let alone to thrive.
I'm so grateful today--this Mother's Day weekend--for my own mom, Dave's mom, and our kids' beautiful birthmoms: La, Candace, Melissa, Amy, and Ruby.
I love you each.
Happy Mother's Day!

PS: I know from time-to-time I sound like a Life Coach. Forgive me! I just think sometimes life gets so busy, we forget to appreciate how truly incredible it is. Life is a honest gift--each day.
PPS: I thought it would be fun to end on a light note for all of you moms out there:
