Realizing I'm In Charge ...
Some of you know my story, but just real quickly for those who don't--
I first auditioned for Survivor when I was 30.
And I was eventually cast for Survivor South Pacific when I was 40.
For 10 years I had this goal of being on Survivor!
And while I know this is a silly goal for many people (the idea of being on a reality tv show), Survivor has literally changed/shaped my life in so many ways--it's been anything but silly. It's actually been incredible and life-changing.
I have learned so much from the experience of auditioning (preparing, facing rejection), being cast, and eventually playing the game.
But I think the most valuable lesson I learned playing Survivor is this:
You're in charge of your life.
If you're waiting for someone to give you permission, encouragement, inspiration, and the resources to live the life you dream about ...
you've got it all wrong.
Because if you're willing to work hard, be persistent, and face failure (lots), then you are truly the maker of your own destiny.
NO-THING can stop you from living a life that brings you peace, joy and purpose/fulfillment:
--Not the weather.
--Not your kids.
--Not your health.
--Not the balance in your bank account.
--Not global climate change.
--Not the President.
Truly, nothing should stop you from living a life that brings you peace, joy and purpose/fulfillment to you.
Nothing.
Ever.
The End.

PS:
I'm know I sound Pollyanna here. But I'm okay with that.
And I know some goals and dreams will need to be modified due to life circumstances.
BUT, the general point I'm trying to make is this: our own fear is usually what stops us from growing. And if you have fear, try to remove it--or at least be aware of it--because it's preventing you from growing.
Survivor taught me that true joy comes from pushing yourself to new limits. And even if you don't achieve your end-goal, you GROW as you pursue it. And there's joy in growth.

That alone makes it worth it.

I know, no more life coaching ... ha!
I know, no more life coaching ... ha!
We got our piñata Friday--and it was SO fun! Seriously, if you haven't had a piñata in a while, you've got to get one (under $10.00, then add candy)!
So many to choose from. We went Old School with the burro. The kids named him Señor Dulce. |
Come along little donkey. |
Our youngest two daughters were in charge of filling him with candy. |
