Survivor Questions ... and Santa

My Redemption Island Dual.

(See, I get mad, too. And it looks like I'm about to swear, no?)

(C) CBS, Monty Brinton, 2011.
(*With thanks to SurvivorFever.net for the video capture.)

Well, it's the day before my dual against Whitney and Ozzy at Redemption Island--and I'm nervous.

It definitely feels like game time, and my brain/noodle won't let me think of anything BUT Survivor today.

So for today's post, I thought today I'd answer a few Survivor-related questions people have emailed me over the past week. (Oh, and if you have a question, you can definitely email me. I'll try my best to answer it: dawn_meehan@byu.edu)

Your Questions Answered

Sidenote:
If you're new to my blog, I should mention, all cast members are under contact with
CBS NOT to answer certain questions about the game. SO, while I can answer
questions about myself, there are some things I'm unable to answer here. Thanks. B)

I voted for your for Player of the Week. What do you win if you get it?
Player of the Week is an AWESOME award, BUT the cash prize (10K) actually goes to a fan--someone who cast one of the votes--kind of like the lottery.

I do feel really fortunate to have won POW twice this season (weeks 4 and 9), so thank you for texting in votes. Up until Sophie's win this week, I was the only female player this season to have won it. Woop woop!

Why don't people look "hairy" at this stage in the game?
This is a question that I can't answer; it's specific to what takes place in the game. BUT, Jeff Probst has answered it on his twitter before--and you could look at his history and find the answer there. (His name is @jeffprobst on twitter.com).

I will say this, I wore board shorts because I had the same question.

Do your kids know if you won?
No one in my family knows the details of the game except myself. CBS has a really good legal department that helps keep us on track with that. *wink*

That being said, I did JOURNAL (old-school) like crazy this summer in order to "process" the experience and keep all of the details fresh in my mind. That has helped a lot.

It was such a life-changing experience for me, it's definitely been hard to keep it all inside. (Kids, this explains why you sometimes find mom in the basement, reading her Survivor journal, wearing her bathing suit, stripey socks, and Samoan satchel. Ha.)

Are players allowed to talk to each other after the game ends?
We are not allowed to communicate in a public forum (facebook, assembly hall, etc.) with one another as per CBS agreement. However, we are able to directly communicate via phone, email, etc. I am pretty sure all of the players have been in direct contact with other players as the show has aired.

Have you been surprised by anything as you've watched?
I think this is a question about whether I've been surprised by what I've seen on the show or heard other cast members say (like in confessionals)? Absolutely. It's all a surprise to me--because the cast doesn't see any footage before it airs. Period.

As a result, I'm pretty sure my blood pressure has been moderatly high for the last 5 months. (Talk about nervous energy.)

I didn't know you were Mormon.
Yes, I'm Mormon. My faith is a pretty private private part of my life (when I'm not on national television talking about turtlenecks--ha), but I am happy to let other people know about it.

I remember last season a cast member won Fan Favorite. Do they have that for your season? How do I vote for you? (Promise, I didn't make this question up. Someone emailed it to me.)
The Fan Favorite Award does go to a cast member. And the award for that title is 100K. (Yup--100K.)

Obviously, I'd LOVE votes cast my way when that contest begins. (And I will be sure to post here once it does.)

Oh, and the Santa part of this post. I nearly forgot.

I wanted to give a shout-out to our local postal worker, Jerry.

He single-handedly decorated our post office for the holidays--

complete with this refurbished mailbox
where kids can drop their letter to Santa.

Love it.
