Don't Worry ...

It makes sense that we would get our weekly email from Elder Meehan on the day I post about my habit of worrying. (It's like Murphy's Law was written just for me.)

Thankfully, he's healthy and well, and there isn't really much to worry about.

But if I were going to worry, which I'm not, here's what it would be about, in a nutshell.

In fact, there's really so much to be grateful for as Elder Meehan serves his mission. (See, look at the improvements I'm making--and it's only Day 2 of the Worry-Less-Athon. Yay me!).

Some of the reasons
NOT TO WORRY, BUT TO BE GRATEFUL:

1. He's healthy and well and in a state where people show him such kindness. Between the mission leaders, mission president/wife, other missionaries, an awesome missionary companion, members of the wards there where he serves, and the help of the Lord, he's doing great (and also taking beautiful photos of the area.)

 2. The package we sent him last week arrived. And so did a few others from friends/family! (Thanks, Langfords!)

3. He and his companion have a good sense of humor, but also are working hard. (They have access to a car two weeks out of each month. And when they don't have the car? They walk or ride their bikes. Everywhere--for a full 10 hour day. In the snow!) We're really grateful for Elder Meehan's upbeat personality. And that he is paired with a companion who's equally smiley.

4. The church members (and people of different faiths) who live in the area/congregation where he serves are super supportive and generous to the missionaries. Elder Meehan is constantly telling us of gifts that are shared, time that is spent, meals that are prepared, and offerings that are extended. It's pretty unbelievable. (He's been made a beanie for cold weather, been provided meals, been offered clothing, and been given the same kind of love and support he'd get from family here at home. It's an example to me of the goodness that comes from letting LOVE govern your actions. Some miraculous and radical things happen when love governs what we do. And I'm here to tell you, he gets to see that kind of generous spirit every week. It's awesome.)

5. He was able to go on exchanges this week with someone who entered the Missionary Training Center with him. (He's the Elder on the R--the one smiling while the other missionary does the wave. AWESOME SAUCE. This photo was taken in the MTC.)

6. They're only 15 more days until Christmas Day ... and that means only 15 more days until we get to TALK to Elder Meehan on the phone. (They make 2 phone calls a year to their families: 1 on Christmas Day and 1 on Mother's Day.) We can't wait to hear his voice again!
