Halloween Week
Bam as Alice In Wonderland. (PS: Thank you Marthe--her church youth group leader--for MAKING this dress!) |
First of all, I just have to say this: our daughter Bam is hands-down the most peaceful person I know.
Just thinking of her calms ME.
She finds happiness in every new day. It's incredible. And this photo is a super-amazing reminder/example of that for me. (Plus, I've may have said this before? But I think adopting our children has given me an extra helping of gratitude for their personalities and traits. They are sometimes like Dave and I, but others times so SO different. I'm really grateful for that/this.)
Okay now: it's Halloween week and I have 2.8 million things on my To Do List.
And while I could write the list here, and give you a serious laugh-attack, I thought I'd just share the 2.8 millionth thing on the list. It pretty much sums up how I'm approaching life right now:
DAWN's TO DO LIST
# 2, 000, 008 = WORK OUT
Isn't that scary?
For one, I have a list of 2.8 million things to do this week.
And for two, the LAST thing I want to do (behind "get my teeth cleaned"), is work out.
I have no idea why I am being so stubborn about working out, but there's something deep down inside of me that just SCREAMS "NO" every time I consider picking up a 10lb weight or going for a jog. (Wow, that makes me sound old. Do they even call running "jogging" anymore?)
Anyway, my point!
That's my point!
I'm just a hodge-podge of completely unrelated ramblings.
So with that wonky background, here are a few more ramblings:
1) My classes at BYU have been discussing privacy and social media this week--and it really has me thinking.
2) I'm not sure how I feel about all of the social media in my life (blogs, fb, twitter, instagram ... etc.).
Sometimes I love it; sometimes I'm overwhelmed by it. I definitely don't think I've found the right balance with it all. Have you? I mean, is it humanly possible to keep up with SO many life events? And yet, is it possible (in 2013) to NOT keep up with them?
3) Why am I blogging about facebook posts when there are REAL life issues to consider, like health, war, hunger, education, clean water, etc.? What is wrong with me?
I guess it's really all about balance.
Oh, who am I kidding; I have no idea what it's all about.
Until tomorrow ...
Happy Halloween week!

And finally, here are a couple of photos our son shared with us this week (from his service mission in Indiana). Thank heaven for e-mail because we miss the heck out of him.

Elder Meehan and other missionaries at a church event: Trunk or Treat. (You trick or treat in a parking lot, car-to-car. It's a planned event. I don't recommend doing this in just any parking lot!) |
