Each Day Begins Brand New

Jr., Papaya, and Jay



First things first: Papaya has a lapbelt on. We're all about the seatbelts.

Second thing: I am so grateful for new days, for fresh starts, and for reasons to smile.

Because every day begins brand new. Past hurts, mistakes, anger, injustices ... they are all wiped away each new day.

That's right. Each day, begins anew.


Brand new ...

if you have the faith to just believe.

And we do.

 Boy, do we ever.

PS: Thanks to Susan in Florida for sharing her Pistachio Pie recipe with me. We made it Sunday and loved it:

Pineapple Pistachio Heath Bar Cool Whip Pie

* Graham cracker pie crust
* 1 pkg pistachio jello mix (large)
* 1 container Cool Whip (large)
* 1 can crushed pinapple (large, undrained)
* Heath candybar bits (handfull?)

 1. Mix all ingredients, save 3-4 tbs of the Heath.
2. Fill pieshell.
3. Chill.
4. Serve with sprinkles of the remaining Heath.

Is there anything better than time with a book you love? (PS: Jr. loves to read, but I'm pretty sure this scenario was staged. He was teasing me about loving reading more than video games. If we look closely, the book may even be upside down. And it's on Pompei!) Turns out it's always summer when you're a housecat! Bam and Papaya on the kayak at the lake near our home. (Our community lets us check these out for use. It is so cool.) I love cooking in the summer--tho my pesto was only medium. I haven't mastered the recipe. I love coconuts. (Even after Survivor. Heck, BECAUSE of Survivor.) Bam is probably the most creative person I know. I was never like this as a kid--and I love that she is. Zu went to visit Janae's Service Hamster, Silver. The running joke between us all: I'd like Janae's family to get a service dog. Janae thinks her hamster fills the bill. "Silver-the-Hamster calms people," she claims....

Survivor 24, A Guinea Pig, And Valentine's '12

Women of Salani tribe. Survivor: One World. (c) CBS, Monty Brinton, 2011. Ahhhh. There's so much to talk about today! First and foremost, tonight is the premiere for Survivor: One World--season 24 , a nd I can't wait--because this season has some great twists.  Redemption Island is gone. The the tribes are separated men vs. women. Hidden Immunity idols have a different "way" of being played (once you find one, it has to be given to someone on the OTHER tribe).  And my most favorite twist: the two tribes are living on ONE beach.  I think the idea of living on the same beach just makes sense, and I would have loved that during our season--because I think it will really help the castaways have a better "read" on ALL of the players. I think  this one twist makes the long game REALLY interesting.  Think of all that Upolu camp life that we/Savaii didn't even know about until the show aired? Brandon and Mikayla? Waiting for the Haunted Train . . .

Two of our daughters, LuLu and ZuZu, waiting for the Haunted Train (last year) 2010. If you love Halloween, Utah has to be one of the best places to live! There are corn mazes o'plenty ,  pumpkin patches the size of football fields (where you cut your pumpkin off the vine), haunted mansions (where zombies chase you with all manner of kitchen utentsils),  decorated porches , neighborhood "witches' tea parties ," and, queue the organ . . . dun dun dun dun . . . the HAUNTED TRAIN RIDE through Provo Canyon . And that last one -- the train ride -- has become one of our family's favorite Halloween traditions. There's just something about hopping on a rikkety old rail car that makes ya yearn to have the living daylights scared out of you! But in a good way.
