Here are a few of 
My Favorite Things this month:



1. The Library.
Granted, I am the only person I know who can find a way to PAY for a FREE service (ahem, fines), but I still love the library! (And yesterday our kids earned free In-n-Out Burgers by being part of our library's current reading program--love that!)

(And yes, I'm like a teenager when I see a book with a swearword in the title. Of course I'm going to check THAT out!)




2. At-Home Manicures.
Bam got these as a bday present from a girlfriend. (They're scented, too. Hello!)




3. Our 14 Year-Old's (Bam) Creativity.
(This is my next polish plan.)
Love this.





4. My Lunch Dates
(at the Deli on 9th in SLC, Utah).
We had pastrami on rye and my husband said he was going to write the deli a thank you note--he loved it THAT much!






5. Energy Bites (from TheRHouse.com).
It's basically an unbaked cookie. LOVE these. Love. Love. Love.
(And I say this knowing full-well that you shouldn't love things that can't love you back.)






6. Cool Sayings On Pinterest.
This is my new favorite. Goes with yesterday's post about The Voice In My Head (VIMH).






7. The VW Bus.
(I think this should be the only mini-van allowed on the highway.)
I've mentioned this before, but had I won Survivor, I would have bought one of these. Tricked out.
Yes, tricked out. 
(I'm over 40, so we say "tricked out" vs. "pimped.")

( NOTE : For those of you nowhere near Hysteria Lane, let me just begin by saying, "Yes, it's raining here." But I stopped worrying about rain in June when I stopped worrying about snow in May. It's all good.) I think I read this in an Eckhart Tolle book, but I am not sure. Something to the effect of, "Treat each situation as if you choose it." In other words, when it rains, act as though you wanted it to rain. When you gain 10 pounds, act as though you'd planned to gain 10 pounds. When your puppy pees on the carpet, act as though you'd wanted him to do that. (Yes, only male puppies pee on carpet.) Okay, maybe that last one is a little hard to "imagine." BUT the point is, we get to choose how we feel about every given situation in our lives. It's Time to Detox . . . and Exfoliate!

When I woke up this morning and had one thought: It's time to detox. And I think the launch of the holiday season seems to be the best time to do that. Don't you? (Ha.) Well, I'm not so sure about that. But rather than just "throw in the towel" and let the holiday buffet roll me over, I think I'm simply going to  try to be  more mindful of how I'm fueling my body. So, here's my plan, I call it,  My  " Be More Mindful of How You Fuel Your Body Over The Holidays Plan" (That's a clear and limiting title if I ever heard one.) What exactly does it mean? Well, bear with me.  I'm not a dietician (but I play one on my blog), so I'm piecing together said-plan using 3 years of college life science courses, a shelf full of library books, a few O! A Year Ago . . . To THE Day

I was thinking this morning about how much has happened this year! And so, I thought it would be fun to SEE what I posted on October 5th, 2010 --and then contrast it with what is happening  this year on October 5th . THEN: October 5, 2010 --I had just bought a camera to replace my broken camera. (Using a sweet coupon from Costco.)   --Our family went to our favorite pumpkin patch and picked our very own pumpkins off the vine--8 of them.   --My hair was longer. Well, longer in a short style kinda way.   --I was mid-way through my own Survivor "boot camp," going to the gym everyday at 6:30am and 4pm. (SIDENOTE: I did not know whether I'd be going on Survivor 23 at this point. I had been cast the previous year, and then cut, so all of my gym time was really just preparing myself for the possibility of S23.)   --Dave-man was working a 3am-noon shift. FUN. FUN. FUN.
