Quick Survivor Q & A

My summer wardrobe.

(PS: My real bathing suit--taken the week before I left for the game.)

It's finals week here at BYU and you know that means?

I'm grading papers. Lots of them.

So, if it's okay, I'll keep today's post kind of quick and light, and just answer a few questions people have emailed this week:

Where did you get your bathing suit? And that jewelry on the top?
This question cracks me up. I guess because I'm not really a fashion person. And, because I thought all of the other women on the show had way cuter suits than mine. But, here's my answer:

The board short bottoms are from a local retailer in Utah, Lime
Ricki, and the way cute top (I'm biased) is from a little company I like to call Target. Funny, I'd had the top for a while and could not remember where I'd bought it. But fortunately my daughter remembered last week (because I've had so many questions about the suit--well, and the socks.)

Oh, and the jewelry is attached to the suit--and I love it. I now believe all bathing suits should have an "adornment," because that little bit of color made me smile every day in the game. True story.

Sidenote: Lime Ricki and Target don't know who I am. And they didn't pay me to wear the suit OR ask me to name them here. I was even reluctant to mention them here, but I didn't want people thinking I wore a super exclusive/expensive bathing suit to play a survival game.

Did you have a comb out there?
Now that the game is over for me, I can answer as to my experience: No. No brush. No comb. No mirror. No shampoo. No soap. No running water. Just the ocean, sand, and my fingers.

If there are any good hair days out there, it's by the grace of grace. (And I should add, Cheryse--the friend who cuts my hair. It was easy to take care of out there. Thanks, Cheryse.)

Sidenote: Some people may have had a clip or something in their hair the day the game began, and if so, they could use it in the game. (I think Ozzy had some hair bands to pull his hair back, if I remember correctly? It looked to me like the women on Upolu braided hair more than we did. With short hair, that wouldn't work for me, but if I had hair like Whitney or Sophie--long--I would have braided that in a heartbeat.)

Who won?
Love to answer this question. So, I usually say Papa Bear. Obviously, I can't answer that. But, if I could, I still wouldn't be able to tell you. I don't know who won. I only know how I cast my vote at the final Tribal Council.

When is the Finale'?
Sunday, December 18, 2011 (in Los Angeles).

Not sure of time. (It's a 2 hour episode, followed by a 1 hour LIVE Reunion show.)

Do your kids get to go to the finale'?
Our whole family is going to the finale'. Yay! I don't know that the kids they will be part of the actual show, but they will be in the audience. Dave and I are both anxious for them to meet the cast and crew--because the kids have been Survivor fans for a very long time (over 10 years). This has been as much their dream as it has been mine/ours.

Sidenote: I mentioned this in my pre-game interviews on CBS.com, but in order to prepare physically for the game, our kids worked out with me once a day for 10 months. They would swim with me in the summer. And in the winter, they played basketball while I lifted weights or ran. Their help and encouragement made it possible for me to get physically prepared for the game--truly.

How much weight did you lose in the game?
I began the game at 126 lbs. and ended the game at 112 lbs. (I was in the game 28 days.)

Have you gained back your weight?
[Hay, are you saying I'm fat? Truly, I must have body image issues because anytime someone asks me about the weight-loss or weight-gain, I think they mean "you look fat."]

But my point!

Yes. I'm at my pregame weight again. BUT, it has been a struggle to get back into shape. I mean, I'm doing it. I workout 5-6 days a week no matter what, but I notice my body isn't regaining strength quite as quickly as I thought it would.

Would you play the game again?
Absolutely. I've loved the game for 10 years as a fan. I love it even more now that I've played. For. Sure.

PS:

I have about 20 more questions to answer, but I'll try to do those one-on-one via email. So, if you sent a question, I'm getting to them this weekend.

Have a question? You can reach me at dawn_meehan@byu.edu

I do reply, it just takes me about a week.

Have a beautiful weekend!

PS:

ZuZu ...
it's almost your Birthday!

I won't always compare everything to the game,
but does anyone else think she has the same hair as Semhar?
