Humankindness

The Tsunami/Earthquake in Japan really has turned my brain upside down.

It's just really hard to fathom how temporary life can be.

How unpredictable it can be.

How downright HARD it can be.

But, for all of the overwhelming sadness I have seen/felt,
I have also seen/felt how much goodness SHINES in us when we help one another.

For example, the goodness of the 50 people who have been working in the Japanese nuclear power plants, risking their own lives/exposure to radiation in order to cool the fuel rods.

Or the goodness of Sandra Bullock (whom I already heart) who donated 1 million dollars to the Red Cross Fund this week.

Or the goodness of  a group of BBC journalists who formed a human chain to transfer people stuck in trees, on top of cars, and on brick walls to safety once the tsunami hit Japan.

There are so many stories of humankindness.

And I think, when something like this happens--something of epic proportions--we have to focus on the these miracles.

And I think that's what I've learned this week. Even more than before:

Focusing on the good helps the good to grow.

*********

And with that in mind, here are the highs for me this past week:

ZuZu wearing a pair of crazy glasses.

LuLu making this little 3x5 card "face"--out of thread.

Eating dinner "out" with everyone.

Finding this photo on my phone.

Celebrating our Temple Day with a cake! (It's a bundt.)

Spending time with this little fella.
And loving how our kids enjoy learning to care for wee little peeps.

Realizing that in this frame--everything is perfect. For. One. Moment.

More facetime with people I love.

Baking bread with my family.

Spending time with OzDog.

And finally, finding this photo on my camera--which keeps me humble.

Does anyone like the way they look from the back?

I didn't even realize that was ME! (Thanks, Jay. You are funny.)

PS: Readers--this is me buying eggs from a local chicken farmer.
