Happy Thanksgiving!

 I love Thanksgiving!

  • Time to stop and realize all of the good that's happening in my life, in my family, and around Planet E. (Oh, and to realize how incredible America is.)

  • No presents to wrap.

  • Time in the kitchen cooking and baking.

  • Good memories.

  • Yummy food to eat . . .

  • and time away from school and work! Woo hoo!

Here's to a Happy Thanksgiving for all of our family and friends.

Jr. is fighting a cold, but you'd never know it--he just doesn't complain.
(PS: I'm grateful for that.)

Not humble, I know, but I think this may be my best idea ever: when it's too cold outside, we bring the snow inside--to the bathtub!
Then, the girls can have their Pet Shop toys play in it. Surprisingly, the snow stays for about an hour.

See, the Pet Shops love it.

( NOTE : For those of you nowhere near Hysteria Lane, let me just begin by saying, "Yes, it's raining here." But I stopped worrying about rain in June when I stopped worrying about snow in May. It's all good.) I think I read this in an Eckhart Tolle book, but I am not sure. Something to the effect of, "Treat each situation as if you choose it." In other words, when it rains, act as though you wanted it to rain. When you gain 10 pounds, act as though you'd planned to gain 10 pounds. It's Time to Detox . . . and Exfoliate!

When I woke up this morning and had one thought: It's time to detox. And I think the launch of the holiday season seems to be the best time to do that. Don't you? (Ha.) Well, I'm not so sure about that. But rather than just "throw in the towel" and let the holiday buffet roll me over, I think I'm simply going to  try to be  more mindful of how I'm fueling my body. So, here's my plan, I call it,  My  " Be More Mindful of How You Fuel Your Body Over The Holidays Plan" (That's a clear and limiting title if I ever heard one.) What exactly does it mean? Well, bear with me.  I'm not a dietician (but I play one on my blog), so I'm piecing together said-plan using 3 years of college life science courses, a shelf full of library books, a few O! A Year Ago . . . To THE Day

I was thinking this morning about how much has happened this year! And so, I thought it would be fun to SEE what I posted on October 5th, 2010 --and then contrast it with what is happening  this year on October 5th . THEN: October 5, 2010 --I had just bought a camera to replace my broken camera. (Using a sweet coupon from Costco.)   --Our family went to our favorite pumpkin patch and picked our very own pumpkins off the vine--8 of them.   --My hair was longer. Well, longer in a short style kinda way.   --I was mid-way through my own Survivor "boot camp," going to the gym everyday at 6:30am and 4pm. (SIDENOTE: I did not know whether I'd be going on Survivor 23 at this point.
