Yesterday marked the beginning of Fall Break for 5/6ths of the fam.
We're sooooooooooooo excited! (This school year has been a lot of fun, but it's also been a lot of work, so the kids definitely have earned a few days off.)
Plus . . . we LOVE Halloween, so this is the best week to have a break!
To kick-off the vacation, we went to dinner at Dave's friend's new restaurant, "Malawi Pizza: Pizza with a Purpose" (for every meal you buy, they donate a meal to an orphanage in Malawi), then drove to Sundance and walked around (the mountains are BOOTIFUL!), then we took a ride on the Haunted Heber Creeper (train ride through Provo Canyon), and ended with a stop by Krispie Kreme Donuts for a free "sample." (I did not know that they give out free samples when their neon sign reads "HOT.")
I'm not kidding when I say that each one of us said, "this was the best day ever," at least once during the night.
I'm so glad we took the time to do those fun things. Life is fun when you have fun.
Deep, I know. (I'm good like that.)
Here's how it went:
Fall donuts at Krispie Kreme. Sooooo cute! |
Is this box awesome or what? |
Cam wore her bee costume for the Haunted Train Ride.
(Which is SOOOOO awesome! If you have never been--and we hadn't--it's just so cool. Loved every minute of it.) |
J makes this funny face in every pix. Why? No idea. |
Spooky bride on the Haunted Train. Funny--Jr. was face-to-face with almost every character on the train. He was singled out everytime. Hilarious. (He's a good sport.) |
ZuZu and LuLu are just boarding--and not sure what to think. It was spooky.
The train was decorated with cobwebs, skeletons, blood . . . eeek! |
Entrance to the train. |
Waiting in line for the train. We went to the 8:30pm train. They have 3-4 running each day. |
Papaya. |
Me and J. Or, J and I. |
Full moon. |
Perfect for the train ride. I'm howling as I type this. |
Since we were in Provo, I bought some apples at Allred Orchards before the night began.
(We used to go there when we lived at the Napolean Dyno House. Five bucks for a huge bag. So good.) |
More apples. |
Yes, I'm learning to use my camera. Fruit is fun to photograph.
(Though I don't know a thing about photography or fruit photos.) |
J driving. Eeek! |
Sundance: Dave and kids. |
Sundance: Me and kids. |
Sundance. |
General Store at Sundance. Jr and lollipops. |
LuLu. |
Could I love Robert Redford any more than I already do? This quote was deep--though I can't really read it here. Or remember it. |
Sundance. |
LuLu wouldn't wear her jacket. |
Youngest 4 bambinos. ZuZu and LuLu dressed as princesses for the train ride. |
Dave--could he look any younger? Cheeses, men age differently than women. |
Sundance again. |
We're like a colorful version of the Brady Bunch. Minus Alice, need I remind you.
(Where is my Alice, BTW?) |
Across the pond at Sundance. |
The kids move a lot. Why does that stop when we are grown-up? (See Dave--no movement.) |
More Sundance. More movement. |
Papaya and Jr. Same grade. Six months apart. |
J doing some parcour move. ZuZu ready to follow. She doesn't have any fear--just like J. |
I know, too many of this photo. BUT . . . I feel like I don't have any photos of J and I.
And he's getting older.
And I have to hang onto every precious minute with the guy.
Soon, he'll be 40 and I'll be 45. LOL! |
