A Year Ago . . . To THE Day
I was thinking this morning about how much has happened this year!
And so, I thought it would be fun to SEE what I posted on October 5th, 2010--and then contrast it with what is happening this year on October 5th.
THEN: October 5, 2010
--I had just bought a camera to replace my broken camera. (Using a sweet coupon from Costco.)
--Our family went to our favorite pumpkin patch and picked our very own pumpkins off the vine--8 of them.
--My hair was longer. Well, longer in a short style kinda way.
--I was mid-way through my own Survivor "boot camp," going to the gym everyday at 6:30am and 4pm. (SIDENOTE: I did not know whether I'd be going on Survivor 23 at this point. I had been cast the previous year, and then cut, so all of my gym time was really just preparing myself for the possibility of S23.)
--Dave-man was working a 3am-noon shift. FUN. FUN. FUN. For everyone.
--I was on an acorn squash kick. (Most of my photos from that month/year are of squashes. Go figure? Maybe it was the excitement of the new camera?)
--I had just straightened our daughter ZuZu's hair. (Which took 3 hours that day.)
--The weather was still warm. Indian Summer warm.
October 5, 2011
--I still have my "new" camera, although it went on a Pioneer Trek with our teenagers this summer and now it's covered in black electrical tape and takes 10 seconds for the lens to open. The upside: We have some AWESOME pix. from trek. See:
--Our family has NOT been to our favorite pumpkin patch yet. Although we do have two store-bought pumpkins. I'm still hoping to get to the pumpkin patch. But just in case . . . we're covered. Technically. That is, if the 6 kids don't mind sharing 2 pumpkins.
--My hair is still short. Shorter than I'd like, actually. (Funny thing about short hair, you're always thinking it's too short.)
--I'm still working out six days a week, although not two times a day, and not always at our community gym. This year I have free-weights at home--which I love!
--Dave-man no longer works the 3am-noon shift! We LOVE THAT so much! Normal family life/schedule now.
--Squash? Haven't made any so far. Although I probably will NOW that I've brought it up.
--ZuZu's hair is POOFY and not straight. She'd like to straighten it, but I just can't see how to work in the three hours to flat-iron it.
--The weather is still warm. Indian Summer warm. Although forecast says that's about to change. Soon.

And now, because I can't resist! I have to share some photos from Episode 4 of Survivor South Pacific! It airs tonight on CBS @ 8pm ET/7pm CT.
PS: These are official CBS photos, copyright Monty Brinton, 2011. (He's the photographer for the game. And he's a native Utahn. Love that.) You can find more official photos on the Survivor page of the CBS website.
And . . . if you're still reading, THANK YOU APRIL for the AWESOME "Team Dawn" shirts! They crack me up--and make me realize just how special it is to have people support your dreams. Thank you, April!
That red "A" is actually my silhouette taken from the cast photo. |
